What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small posts that are crafted from biocompatible materials like titanium and zirconia. This is because they’re designed to be placed within the jawbone to restore the missing roots of teeth, and in order to optimize their function, osseointegration is necessary. This is when the implants fuse with the bone upon their placement, helping deliver the jawbone with blood flow and stimulation to keep it from deteriorating.
The dental implants then act as a strong, unwavering foundation for any type of dental restoration to be attached to, like a crown, bridge, or denture, completing your whole set of teeth.
The 4-Step Dental Implant Process

- The Initial Consultation: The first step to every dental implant process is the initial consultation. Our team will capture diagnostic images of your mouth and facial structure using our cone beam CT scanner, and one of our specialists will help determine whether you’re a good candidate for the treatment and outline what your journey would look like.
- Dental Implant Placement: Our in-house periodontist is trained in a number of surgical procedures involving the gums and bone tissues, including dental implant placement. This allows us to place the implants in-house, so you won’t need to worry about being referred out for any part of this process.
- Osseointegration & Abutment Attachment: After your dental implant placement, you’ll undergo a healing and osseointegration period that lasts between three and six months. This is when your implants will fuse with your jawbone. Once this process is complete, you’ll return to our office so we can attach small metal connector pieces, called abutments, to the top of your dental implants.
- Attaching the Final Restorations: After your final prosthetic has been crafted, our team will finish your treatment by attaching it to your abutments and securing it permanently within your mouth.
